Golf Divot Hitting Mats: A Budget Friendly Swing Aide to help you Improve!

Do budget friendly and easy to use anywhere swing aides even exist? Yes! I bought a golf divot hitting mat because I was having issues with my club path (out to in) and contact point (mostly fat – behind the ball).   Divot hitting mats allow you to see exactly what your club head is doing as you contact the ground and ball. I’ve seen these mats on Amazon and settled on the Bsenie Golf Hitting Mat. (UPDATE:  this mat is not currently available on Amazon! But –>) Honestly, there’s about a dozen of these types of mats on Amazon – this one was one of the least expensive ones (all in the $24-$50 range)  and they all seem pretty much the same! Here’s a GGFL! review:

Easy Setup in Garage,  Backyard,  In-Home  or even at your Work Office!

One of the best things about these divot swing path mats is its ease of use. Just plop it down on any flat surface – this could be on your lawn, your garage floor, living room flooring, or at work.  As long as you can swing a club safely, this mat will work!  I use foam balls most of the time, because real balls make real holes in garage walls!  If you have a net set up, real balls work fine, but in my opinion are not necessary.  Just set it down, run your foot or hand across the velvet surface, grab a club, put a ball down and hit away.

Feedback on Every Swing

Divot swing path hitting mats are made with a printed velvet surface that’s secured onto a heavy rubber mat to reduce the chances it moves after every swing.  After each swing, the mat clearly displays your swing path and contact point relative to where the ball was,  helping you spot common issues like fat shots, slicing, or pulls.  some of you are thinking why don’t I just do the towel drill (putting a towel 3-5 inches behind the ball and not hitting it)?  That helps with ball contact but you could be swinging right or left – missing the towel does not give you that feedback! And of course you could still put down a towel on the hitting mat to help you make ball first contact!

Great Value for Golfers on a budget or not on a budget!

One of the difficult aspects of hitting foam or real golf balls at home is that you can’t easily tell where your ball is going, unless you have invested hundreds or thousands of dollars on a Launch Monitor or full Sim setup. Golf Divot Hitting Mats give you that feedback at less than a round of golf!  It’s ideal for:

    • Beginner golfers learning proper swing mechanics.

    • Intermediate players refining their ball striking.

    • Anyone who wants to practice smarter at home without overspending

Key Benefits of the Golf Divot Hitting Mats

Visual feedback after every swing—no more guesswork on swing path/direction

Compact and lightweight—perfect for travel or backyard use

Helps eliminate fat shots and improve ball-first contact

Builds muscle memory through repetition

Great for all skill levels, from beginner to advanced

Compatible with foam balls for indoor golf practice

What’s included?

Most of the golf hitting mats (check before ordering!) comes with one velcro attached mat and a second mat when the first one is worn out.  I’ve used the mat dozens of times with hundreds of hits and see little wear and tear.  Having a second mat makes this an even higher value product!

Final Thoughts: Is using a Divot Hitting Mat Worth It?

In my opinion: Yes!  It’s easy to use, provides instant feedback, and helps you work on real fundamentals like swing path and ball striking. For golfers who want to practice their swing at home, this product delivers big results at a small price.  The Bsenie mat is currently unavailable on Amazon (oh, no!) but don’t worry, here are links to virtually the same mats distributed by different sellers – all come with the same/similar features, including the extra mat(s)!
